Greetings from the Pastor

Welcome to Immanuel Lutheran Church! My name is Jeff Mueller and I have the joy and privilege of serving my Lord Jesus Christ as the senior pastor of this wonderful Christian family called Immanuel Lutheran Church. I was officially welcomed as Immanuel’s new pastor on August 15th, 2010. God has called me back to serve in my home congregation where I was confirmed and married and where my wife and kids were all baptized. Even though I am the “new” pastor, I know and love this 112 year old congregation very much. I am home! Allow me to share a little more about my family and myself. I grew up in the Hood River Valley and lived up in Parkdale with my parents, Dick and Lennie Mueller until age 18. Dad was the Mt. Hood National Forest District Ranger for over 20 years so I grew up with the world’s most beautiful mountain in my back yard. I attended Wy’East Jr. High and graduated from Hood River High in 1977. I have been married for 40 years now to the most beautiful woman on earth, my high school sweetheart, Lynda (Powell). Lynda has not only been my life mate and best friend for over three decades and the mother of our two kids, but she has been my ministry partner for over twenty years and now she continues to serve our Lord as Immanuel’s church secretary. If you ever call our church office @ 541-386-3046, that is her friendly voice on the other line! We have two wonderful children who are now grown and married to Christian spouses whom we love as our own children. Our son, Mike, is 38 and married to Renee. They have a 10 year old son, Mikey, who is our middle grandson. They also have 4 adopted sons, Alan 17, Logan 16, Nathan 14, and Ryan 12. They live right here in the Mid-Columbia. Mike is our youth and community life Director. Renee serves as a youth leader. Our daughter Nikki, is 35 and married to Greg. They have blessed us with two grandsons, Kaiden who is 12 and Jackson who is 10. I never dreamed being a grandpa would be this wonderful. Greg and Nikki and the boys live in North Bend, OR serving as Missionaries.

I received my BA in Religious Studies at Concordia College – Ann Arbor, MI. in 1989 and my Master of Divinity at Concordia Seminary – St. Louis, MO. in 1993. That same year I received a call as a church planter to the town of Windsor, in the heart of the California wine country. My family spent ten wonderful years there serving Vineyard of Faith Lutheran Church & Ministry (www.vof.org). In the early part of 2003, God called me to serve at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (www.goodshepherdhonolulu.org) in Honolulu, Hawaii. I praise our Lord for His love and grace in our lives for the seven years of ministry on the island of Oahu. We met so many loving people in our church’s neighborhood of Liliha, and all around Honolulu. We are excited and grateful for the life-changing ministry we witnessed at Vineyard of Faith Lutheran and at Good Shepherd Lutheran as well as the many daughter churches that were birthed throughout Oahu during our time there. Lynda and I are overwhelmed with joy at returning to our home town to serve our Lord, our home congregation and our childhood community. We know our loving God has big plans for life-transforming ministry here at Immanuel and it is an honor and privilege to get to be a part of it. We are now experiencing the re-birth of a 112 year old church. Thank you, God! I extend to you a warm and loving invitation to join us in this most beautiful life of sharing Jesus and His love with each other and with the entire Mid-Columbia. God loves you and so do we! Come see for yourself. We would love to have you visit us on any Sunday morning as we celebrate the love, grace, power and joy of Jesus. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have. I will respond as soon as possible. Please return to our web site regularly as we will be making many changes and sharing a whole lot of great life-changing stuff in the months ahead.

And remember above all else – God loves you and has a plan for your life!

Joy in Jesus,

Pastor Jeff Mueller
